Election expert SUSAN GREENHALGH of the non-profit Free Speech For People, who first helped uncover the coordinated multi-state plot to breach voting systems in multiple states, explains the charges, Powell’s guilty plea, and what happens next. Greenhalgh delivers a chilling warning that the compromised voting system software remains unpatched and in use across Georgia, posing a serious threat to the 2024 election. She calls on voters to contact their congressional representatives to demand an investigation and security review. On today’s ‘BradCast’: Another mass shooting, this time in Maine, where a statewide manhunt is underway for the suspect who killed 18 people, and who was reportedly able to obtain a deadly, high-powered rifle despite mental health issues thanks to lax state gun laws. Acapulco sustained widespread damage and at least 27 were killed by powerful Hurricane Otis, which shocked scientists by undergoing rapid intensification to a Category 5 storm in just 12 hours. Republicans’ new far-right Speaker, Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA), is an election denier and climate science denier who has received more campaign cash from the fossil fuel industry than any other, including unlawful foreign donations from Russian oligarchs. A federal judge rejected Georgia’s state and federal voting district maps as unlawful racial gerrymanders, ordering the state legislature to redraw them. In Colorado, a state court ruled that the Constitution’s 14th Amendment ‘Insurrectionist Disqualification Clause’ is self-executing. Ilan Pappe is one of Israel’s New Historians. Since the release of classified British and Israeli government documents in the early 1980s, they have offered a critical view of Israel’s creation in 1948, and the corresponding flight and expulsion of 700,000 Palestinians in the same year. Pappe has written that the expulsions were not decided on an ad hoc basis, as other historians have argued, but were done in accordance with Plan Dalet, drawn up in 1947 by Israel’s future leaders. In a 2004 interview, Pappe said “The aim has always been, and it still remains, to have as much of Palestine as possible with as few Palestinians in it as possible. Prior to coming to the University of Exeter in the UK in 2008, Pappe was a senior lecturer in political science at the University of Haifa. (1984″2007) After publishing his book: The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine, Pappe was condemned in Israel’s parliament, and a minister of education called for him to be sacked. SEA CHANGE RADIO: Zac Unger: Looking Polar Bear Endangerment In The Eye (00:29:00)
We have all seen the mournful image of an unhappy polar bear isolated on a melting ice floe. It conveys the doom of that one bear as well as his species, and implies that we are all headed in that direction if something is not done about global warming. Inspired by such images and his commitment to ecological conservation, this week’s guest on Sea Change Radio, Zac Unger, ventured up to the great white north to check out the plight of polar bears himself, up close. What he found surprised him. Embedding himself with scientists, Unger learned about how the bears are adjusting their diet, fasting periods and even breeding behavior in response to the warmer, longer summers that climate change is bringing. These adaptations, in conjunction with hunting prohibitions instituted late in the 20th century, have allowed the polar bear population to flourish. The picture that Unger paints of this robust, adaptable species stands in stark contrast to the impression most of us have of the endangered polar bear. While some climate change deniers are exploiting Unger’s work to make their case, its important to keep in mind that his book, Never Look a Polar Bear in the Eye, also demonstrates that global warming is indeed happening, and that the only route to survival, for any of us, is adaptation. Unger’s journey and discoveries also raise questions about the eventual impact that the bears adaptations will have on polar ecosystems, and critically consider the changing role of scientists as advocates.

Among the most banned books in the United States, Uncle Tom’s Cabin or, Life Among the Lowly is a novel by American author Harriet Beecher Stowe which treats slavery as a central theme. Stowe was a Connecticut-born teacher at the Hartford Female Academy and an active abolitionist. The novel is believed to have had a profound effect on the North’s view of slavery. In fact, when he met Harriet Beecher Stowe, President Lincoln is said to have commented, “So you’re the little lady whose book started the Civil War.” First published on March 20, 1852, the story focuses on the tale of Uncle Tom, a long-suffering black slave, the central character around whose life the other characters—both fellow slaves and slave owners—revolve.
