KEEPING DEMOCRACY ALIVE: The Many All-American Tools Trump Can Use To Chill Freedom   (01:00:02)

From the proposed Department of Government Efficiency to possible invocation of the Insurrection Act of 1807 to the Espionage Act of 1917 to the proposal to take away the non-profit status of organizations alleged to have ties to terrorists, there is a large toolbox available tht can be used to repress freedom of speech and of the press. Even taking on the imagined deep state would have a chilling effect on civil servants. As our guest Nan Levinson reminds us, there’s a lot journalists and regular citizens can do to protect our First Amendment rights.

TUC RADIO: The JFK Assassination and the Gangster Nature of the State, Michael Parenti (TWO of TWO)  (00:29:00)

This talk caused a controversy in the media when it was first aired on the 30th anniversary of the JFK assassination. Parenti saw not just the violent death of an individual but said: If the truth were known it would call into question the entire state system and the social order it represents. And that troubling implication is probably the reason why the mainstream press has suppressed the work of those who researched the circumstances of Kennedys death. In his investigation Parenti focused on the troubling contradictions In Lee Harvey Oswalds life to add to the proof that Oswald was at best a patsy.

LITERATURE ALOUD: Uncle Tom’s Cabin (1852) by Harriet Beecher Stowe ch. 15 (00:45:10)

Among the most banned books in the United States, Uncle Tom’s Cabin or, Life Among the Lowly is a novel by American author Harriet Beecher Stowe which treats slavery as a central theme. Stowe was a Connecticut-born teacher at the Hartford Female Academy and an active abolitionist. The novel is believed to have had a profound effect on the North’s view of slavery. In fact, when he met Harriet Beecher Stowe, President Lincoln is said to have commented, “So you’re the little lady whose book started the Civil War.” First published on March 20, 1852, the story focuses on the tale of Uncle Tom, a long-suffering black slave, the central character around whose life the other characters—both fellow slaves and slave owners—revolve. The novel depicts the harsh reality of slavery while also showing that Christian love and faith can overcome even something as evil as enslavement of fellow human beings. ALAN WATTS: Conquering Fear (00:14:32)

Conquering Fear by Alan Watts. Alan Wilson Watts (6 January 1915 – 16 November 1973) was a British writer and lecturer who interpreted and popularized Eastern philosophy and religion for a Western audience. Watts wrote more than 25 books and articles on subjects important to Eastern and Western religion, introducing the then-burgeoning youth culture to The Way of Zen (1957), one of the first bestselling books on Buddhism. In Psychotherapy East and West (1961), Watts proposed that Buddhism could be thought of as a form of psychotherapy and not a religion. He considered Nature, Man, and Woman (1958) to be, “from a literary point of view—the best book I have ever written.” He also explored human consciousness and psychedelics in the essay “The New Alchemy” (1958) and in the book The Joyous Cosmology (1962).

Encore: original airdate 11-18-2024. On today’s ‘BradCast’: Donald Trump hasn’t even been sworn in yet, but he’s already violating ethics requirements that he himself signed into law in 2019. Trump and his transition team have also declined to sign required transition and ethics documents. Former DOJ and US Senate official LISA GRAVES, now of True North Research, explains the ‘huge red flags’ in Trump’s efforts to bypass ethics rules and national security review, why it matters, his scheme to force the US Senate into recess to appoint his nominees, and much more. Trump has also nominated fossil fuel executives and climate science deniers for key environmental posts.

ENCOURAGEMENTOLOGY: The Value of Community: Building, Belonging, and Blooming Together   (00:30:00)

On this show we are building, belonging, and blooming together as we explore and celebrate, the value of community. When you think of the word community, what comes to mind? Is it a neighborhood, a friend group, or maybe something you long for but haven’t found yet? If the self-proclaimed loner still needs to feel connected and supported. People need people. The popular song sheds some valuable insight: We’re children, needing other children and yet letting a grown-up pride hide all the need inside. So let’s talk about community – the people who lift you up, laugh at your bad jokes, and sometimes even remind you to take down your trash. Community isn’t just a nice-to-have; it’s a life-changing, soul-nourishing, growth-accelerating gift. Whether it’s your ride-or-die crew, a group of neighbors, or a virtual squad cheering you on from afar, we all need a tribe. Don’t have one? No problem! You can start your own – it’s easier than you think and way more fun than going it alone.

SPIRIT IN ACTION: Positive & Practical Primer for Paradigm Shift (00:56:00)

Jan Spencer is back today to guest-host today Spirit In Action with the 4th installment of his series Primer for Paradigm Shift, and this one is fun for the positive and practical examples of this kind of work actually taking place. While keeping his eye on the needed ways of seeing and thinking about the world in order to become sustainable and to leave our world-wrecking ways behind us, Jan shows us real folks making real change with real fun. Among the stories to be shared today are the case of a Portland, Oregon, candidate for city council, running on what is essentially a paradigm shift platform, another is an example of making change from within from the neighborhood association level, a third takes us to Iraq where widows have joined together to fill their tables with women power. There’s more, as Jan helps us all in Creating A Preferred Future. You can track down many of his insights via his YouTube videos (https://www.youtube.com/@janspencer9492) and on his website (https://www.suburbanpermaculture.org/podcasts.html), and those in Eugene Oregon may be able to hear his broadcasts via KEPW. Jan has done the on-the-ground work of permaculture, lifestyle, environmental modification to live toward the preferred future we need, and many of his resources address those particulars, but the Primer is the big overview. TUC RADIO: Alex Carey – Corporations and Propaganda, parts 1&2 (00:58:00)

Alex Carey wrote that the people of the US have been subjected to an unparalleled, expensive, 3/4 century long propaganda effort designed to expand corporate rights by undermining democracy and destroying the unions. The 20th century, he wrote, is marked by three historic developments: the growth of democracy via the expansion of the franchise, the growth of corporations, and the growth of propaganda to protect corporations from democracy. Careys unique view of US history goes back to World War I and ends with the Reagan era. Noam Chomsky dedicated his book Manufacturing Consent to the memory of Alex Carey. Chomsky says that the Australian sociologist would have written the definitive history of propaganda in the US, had he lived to complete his work. This is a fairly complex production with many voices, historic sound clips, and source material. The program has been used by writers and students of history and propaganda. Alex Carey: Taking the Risk out of Democracy, Corporate Propaganda VS Freedom and Liberty with a foreword by Noam Chomsky was published by the University of Illinois Press in 1995.

Best of ATTITUDE with ARNIE ARNESEN November 23, 2024 (00:59:30)

Segment One

We begin the show with Cassandra Jaramillo, reporter at ProPublica. We discuss the effect of the Texas abortion ban, which is deliberately phrased vaguely with regard to exceptions. This vagueness has prevented women from being able to cite the “exceptions to the ban”, and has pressured doctors and other health care workers to do nothing to help women who are suffering the “exceptions” conditions. Women have died as a result.

Segment Two

We then catch up with Gautam Jan, Senior Research Scholar at Columbia University. What can Trump do, and what can’t he do about the climate crisis? Trump’s “energy dream team” can and will likely withdraw the US from the Paris Climate Accords, but find it more difficult to withdraw from the 1992 international agreement, which was approved by Congress. Market forces will likely force some kind of climate action. The steps taken will probably be by other countries, who will dominate the clean energy market. However the IRA in the US has mostly benefited the ‘red’ states, and monies may not be easily withdrawn by Trump. The actions are likely to be resisted by Republican governors and others.

DEEP DIVE CYBERSECURITY SHOW: The Case For The Editorial Process (00:58:35)

Disinformation, in part, drove the 2024 election. Real time information was perpetually poisoned by false narratives and the kicker of the whole thing is that Elon Musk openly embraced and encouraged this! If we kill the editorial process and information vetting, there is no coming back from the false realities that are being online and convincing people of things that simply aren’t true. This is what amps up violence and we need to explore the differences between actual vetted news and the fake garbage pervasive online. Don’t miss this episode.

KEEPING DEMOCRACY ALIVE: Defending Democracy is Fighting for You, Not the Status Quo (00:59:06)

In the wake of the shocking presidential election, we Democrats now have an opportunity and an obligation. Once again, the heartland of America saw the Democratic Party as two-coast elitists. Our guest today, veteran political organizer Bob Creamer says despite the Trumpist’s scapegoating The Others as the cause of the average family’s pain, we need to aggressively identify the real cause of that pain. Since 1973 the income of the wealthiest has shot up much faster than everybody else. Democrats need to listen to Bernie Sanders and put it out there. This is one of Parentis most highly acclaimed talks, ending with a standing ovation. He spoke on the 30th anniversary of the assassination in Berkeley, CA. When Oliver Stone’s movie JFK opened in December 1991 a huge PR campaign was mobilized against the film. Even progressives spoke out. Noam Chomsky wrote in support of the Warren Commissions lone assassin findings. In contrast Michael Parenti supported Stone and began by examining what he calls the gangster nature of the state.

LAURA FLANDERS AND FRIENDS: Patrick & Claud Cockburn: A Legacy of Guerilla Journalism Against Media Complacency (00:28:00)

Mainstream media has a lot to account for in 2024, but go back 90 years, and prestigious publications have often failed to see when things were so clearly wrong. In 1930s Germany, many journalists downplayed Adolf Hitlers ascension to power, with the New York Times writing There is no warrant for immediate alarmThe more violent parts of his alleged program he has himself in recent months been softening down or abandoning. But one young British journalist who, seeing what was happening, quit his job with The London Times and founded The Week, a newsletter that became famous for its opposition to fascism and the Western powers that were enabling it. His name was Claud Cockburn, and hes the subject of a newly-released biography by his son, Patrick Cockburn, Believe Nothing Until It Is Officially Denied: Claud Cockburn and the Invention of Guerrilla Journalism, out now via Verso Books. Patrick is an award-winning journalist himself, with a long expertise in the Middle East. And Patrick is Laura Flanders uncle; Claud is her grandfather. How did mainstream media miss what Claud knew about the rise of Nazis, and how did his guerilla journalism make an impact? And why is Clauds story so relevant now? All that, plus a commentary from Laura

LITERATURE ALOUD: Uncle Tom’s Cabin (1852) by Harriet Beecher Stowe ch. 13 (00:22:07)

WINGS #32-24 Witch Survival (00:28:51)

This is the finale of Mindy Ran’s 2-part 2024 interview with feminist historian and archivist Max Dashu, creator of The Suppressed Histories Archives and the 16-volume series The Secret History of the Witches. Part 1 surveyed the long history of persecution of women in Europe for alleged witchcraft, in a power grab by patriarchal elites.

In Part 2, Dashu first looks back at the linguistic and folk culture evidence of early earth-based goddess practices that worked with the cycles of nature. She then contrasts modern examples of witch images in popular culture vs. revived and re-created earth-based rituals today. Honouring relations with nature is essential to survival!

ALAN WATTS: Alan Watts Opens Up About Religion (00:17:54)

This summarised lecture by Alan Watts is from the Alan Watts Library at https://alanwatts.org. The image of Jesus is owned by the church traditions and authorities. He has been moulded to fit the interests of the church patriarchs for centuries, so much so that the prevailing image of Jesus is now so far removed from what he truly represented. Namely an energy from the future who came to earth to bring illumination and knowledge to humanity. The reason why the Jesus/Jeshua personality came to earth was to create an opening or doorway to a different state of consciousness. He wanted to set an example of the possibilities that are available to each human being. He wanted to hold up a mirror to human beings and remind them of their own divine origin and the dormant potentials they carried within. The potentials for peace, freedom and mastership over oneself. THE BRADCAST: 11/19/2024 ‘Bullet Ballot’ Claims and Other Arguments for Hand-Counting 2024 Votes; Gaetz report files hacked (00:58:00)

On today’s ‘BradCast’: Concerns over the accuracy of the 2024 Election results are growing in the wake of cybersecurity and voting security experts urging the Harris Campaign to seek hand recounts in states where voting system software was breached and distributed after the 2020 Election. We explain new theories about the election concerns posed by financial services security expert Stephen Spoonamore – – but again, the only way to determine if the results were tabulated accurately is with a public hand-count of ballots. In Pennsylvania’s extremely close US Senate race, a court battle is underway over whether otherwise legal ballots should be tossed out if mail-in voters wrote the incorrect date on the outside envelope. A hacker has accessed the unreleased report detailing evidence in the disturbing sex trafficking charges against Donald Trump’s nominee for US Attorney General, Rep. Matt Gaetz. ENCOURAGEMENTOLOGY: The Power of Influence: Recognizing What Shapes Us and Taking Control   (00:30:00)

On this show we are exploring the power of influence, recognizing what shapes us, and taking back control. We have all been bombarded with messaging asking, begging, and sometimes coercing us to think, feel, and take action. Where do your own thoughts hide in the midst of such assaults? Influence as a pervasive force in our lives that can shape our choices, our mindset, and even our identity. It can feel like a current – sometimes it gently guides us, but other times its strong enough to sweep us off our feet. The key is in recognizing where influence is coming from and deciding how much power to give it. Let’s take a big breathe here and make a commitment to unpack, resort, and purge some influencing ideas that no longer serve us in a positive way.

THE BRADCAST: 11/18/2024 Guest: former Dep. Asst. AG Lisa Graves on Trump’s violation of the Presidential Transition Act and wildly unqualified (00:57:30)

On today’s ‘BradCast’: Donald Trump hasn’t even been sworn in yet, but he’s already violating ethics requirements that he himself signed into law in 2019. The Republican President-elect, who barely won a plurality, not a majority, has nominated a flood of unqualified appointees to cabinet level posts and is refusing FBI background checks for sensitive national security positions. We then catch up with Bill Curry and Jeff Sharlet. Curry is a former WH aide to Bill Clinton, and Sharlet is a professor at Dartmouth College. We discuss the choices that Trump is making for his cabinet. We also talk about whether we are now living in a democracy or a regime. Trump has signaled that he would like to use the military against the civilian US population. Also, rather than the US ‘going back’ to some previous state of government, the goal seems to be to impose a new order, that eliminates the two party system and free voting. How can this be countered?

THE BRADCAST: 11/14/2024 Computer Security Experts Urge Harris to Seek Hand-Counts Due to Voting System Breaches, with Guest Dr. Duncan Buell (00:58:00)

On today’s ‘BradCast’: Top election security experts and computer scientists are urging Vice President Kamala Harris to seek hand recounts of the presidential election in key states to verify election totals, citing voting system breaches by Donald Trump allies in 2021 and 2022, and Georgia’s refusal to apply recommended security patches to their election system. The scientists emphasize that they have ‘no evidence’ that voting systems were compromised, and that such audits should be routine – – particularly when massive software breaches are known and documented – – ‘to set an example for security best practices in all elections.’ Dr. DUNCAN BUELL of the University of South Carolina, a member of the group, explains the known breaches and other concerns, and ways to upgrade the nation’s election security going forward. LITERATURE ALOUD: Uncle Tom’s Cabin (1852) by Harriet Beecher Stowe ch.9 (00:39:28)

Best of ATTITUDE with ARNIE ARNESEN November 9, 2024 (00:59:30)

We begin the show with Professor Karrin Vasby Anderson, Professor of Communication Studies at Colorado State University. We discuss the language used by Tucker Carlson, which indicates that he and Trump see themselves as part of the “daddy party”, and prefer the “strict father” role, which allows them to punish and discipline. This punishment is aimed at women, who they feel should be treated as rebellious 15-year old girls. The tone is angry and entitled. The main threat is physical violence.

This is the second half of my interview with Vanessa Machado de Oliveira. Vanessa grew up in Brazil. Her father is German and her mother is indigenous Guarani. She’s a professor at the University of British Columbia, where she holds a Canada Research Chair in Race, Inequalities and Global Change and is a founding member of the Gesturing Towards Decolonial Futures collective, and Weaving the Web of 5 Cures. In this contentious election, one of the biggest concerns are those who have a sincere desire to change in the United States and achieve through it coordinated violence. They’re organizing and Facebook itself is now making it easier than ever from these extremists to find each other and coordinate. This could make the aftermath 2024 election vastly more difficult and violent. Don’t miss this episode!

KEEPING DEMOCRACY ALIVE: Restorative Justice Works Where Retribution Fails (00:59:48)

You know the saying hurt people hurt people. Well, our guest argues healed people heal people. Most of us look away from the terribly failed system of justice, but Notre Dame Professor Jason Springs offers us a new path that is working. What we have now only multiplies harm whereas we can repair the harm and hold people accountable. Putting people in cages fails to do that. Restorative Justice is not soft on crime, it just works far better. Putting as, he says, the neighbor back in the hood, is already working in Chicago.

But, evidently, not all environmentalist efforts are rooted in the same values. This week on Sea Change Radio, we speak to Abrahm Lustgarten, a reporter for ProPublica, about his recent piece chronicling an ugly, hidden side to the history of the American environmentalist movement. We learn about John Tanton, a virulent racist and eugenicist who befriended many environmental leaders, find out how hes connected to the perpetrator of the El Paso Wal-Mart mass shooting, Patrick Crusius, and talk about how white supremacy and xenophobia have come to dominate right-wing rhetoric in this country.

LITERATURE ALOUD: Uncle Tom’s Cabin (1852) by Harriet Beecher Stowe ch.5 (00:20:36)

WINGS #30-24 US Violence Against Women Act (00:28:57)

On September 12, 2024, the Biden-Harris administration celebrated 30 years since the passage of the US Violence Against Women Act, with an announcement of new funds and new areas of coverage. Although passed by Congress in 1994, the VAWA bill was first introduced in 1990. From the WINGS archive 1991, here is then-81-year-old Washington reporter Sarah McClendon, interviewing then-49-year-old Senator Joe Biden, about the bill he drafted and introduced in the Senate, and would finally successfully shepherd through. He explains his first realization that the problem existed, and many of the angles to address it written into that bill. A similar version was introduced in the House by Barbara Boxer of California. The VAWA finally passed in both houses in 1994 and has been renewed – although with stops and starts and amendments – ever since. McClendon opined that Biden’s work on this bill would make up for his performance as chair of the Judiciary Committee, when Anita Hill’s testimony was dismissed and Clarence Thomas was confirmed to the US Supreme Court.

CHOOSE TO BE CURIOUS: The Art of Noticing, with Rob Walker (00:28:00)

Periodically I set myself a curiosity scavenger hunt theme with a fixed duration — 77 days of feet, a long hot summer of art, a month of biophilia, a week in the kitchen — and then I just keep my eyes open and my camera handy. It’s a joy. The thrill of the hunt; the challenge and delight in finding something new in the very familiar; the excuse to get outdoors, whatever the weather; the visual puns; the surprisingly sentimental moments — all culled from the everyday world around me. It is very much in the spirit of what journalist and author Rob Walker would call “The Art of Noticing.” “There is this nice jump from ‘I didn’t even notice it’ to ‘At least I noticed it’ to ‘Not only did I notice it, I took it to the next level.’ “~ Rob Walker

THE BRADCAST: 11/4/2024 ‘Closing Arguments’ from Callers to Undecided and Third-Party Voters)  (00:58:00)

On today’s ‘BradCast’: The last day to vote in the critical 2024 election is Tuesday, Nov. 5th. Either Kamala Harris will become the next President of the United States, and the first Black, Southeast-Asian American woman to do so, or Donald Trump, a convicted criminal felon, adjudicated rapist, and self-proclaimed wannabe-dictator, will be. Trump will declare victory on Election Night, regardless of the actual results; if he loses, he will use any means to overturn the results, as when he tried and failed to steal the 2020 election. European Green parties call on Jill Stein, US Green Party presidential candidate, to withdraw from the race to prevent being a spoiler. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) explains why he believes it is critical to elect Kamala Harris, despite his disagreement over the Biden Administration’s policy on Israel and Gaza. Callers make their case to voters who may be undecided, considering not voting at all, or voting for a so-called ‘third-party’ candidate.

On this show we are exploring the shocking truth about how the medias shock and awes keep us on high alert but in actuality, weaken our instincts. Have you ever heard of the tale of Henny Penny? Its a classic Scandinavian folktale where a little chick named Henny Penny gets hit on the head by a falling acorn and panics, believing that the sky itself is falling. Determined to warn the king, Henny Penny sets off on a journey, gathering other animals along the way who are also swept up in the hysteria. However, they eventually meet a clever fox who pretends to join their mission but instead lures them to its den where it ends up eating them all. And that’s the abrupt, cautionary end of their story! The Executive Director of the nonprofit Ballot Initiative Strategy Center, CHRIS MELODY FIELDS FIGUEREDO, discusses why we are seeing a surge of citizen-led ballot measures across the country, covering everything from reproductive rights to minimum wage, paid sick leave, redistricting, and much more. Figueredo also highlights ‘sneaky’, deceptive ballot initiatives, efforts in GOP-controlled states to block voter-led ballot measures, and useful tools for voters to make informed choices.

ECONOMIC UPDATE: The Missing Economics of the 2024 Election (00:29:00)

On this week’s episode of Economic Update, with the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election only 8 days away, Professor Richard Wolff explores the shared refusal of both major candidates and their parties to face and debate solutions to the grave problems facing US capitalism in 2024: (1) inequality, (2) instability and (3) a declining empire. Instead, we are witnessing both Trump and Harris compete to be the “cheerleader in chief” for capitalism. Missing from the discourse is a genuine opposition party that might dare to offer an alternative non-capitalist vision and solution to the system’s deepening problems.

SPIRIT IN ACTION: A Better Life From a US/Italian Viewpoint (00:55:00)

Usually for Spirit in Action we are talking to a person or group who are engaged in some specific world-healing work, while today We’ll be talking to John Bachman and Christina Yocca, former residents of Eau Claire, currently back for a short visit, who have been living in Italy for 2 years now, which is their permanent home. Our hope is that by talking with John and Christina, we’ll form a clearer view of the strengths and the weaknesses of the two different countries, and to explore the possibilities for improving the world, and ourselves, by choosing a new home. John and Christina have both been very involved in world-healing work, John as criminal defense lawyer, including his legal work with Nukewatch, Earth First, and the Line 3 Pipeline Protesters, while Christina’s artwork and teaching have been an enrichment of our world in a different way. We previously interviewed John about his defense of the protesters at the 2008 Republican National Convention.

LITERATURE ALOUD: Uncle Tom’s Cabin (1852) by Harriet Beecher Stowe ch.1 (00:25:36)

THE BRADCAST: 10/31/2024 The ‘Voter Fraud’ Before the Storm (00:58:00)

On today’s ‘BradCast: Get ready for a tsunami of ‘fraud’ claims, both real and fake, likely to come our way in the next few days and weeks, IF Donald Trump loses to Kamala Harris on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Understand the facts to combat disinformation spread by Trump, Republicans and their MAGA supporters, as they lay the groundwork to contest the election. Actual proven voter fraud cases are exceedingly rare and are caught by an extensive fraud check system, as recent arrests in several states show. Republicans in Arizona stopped trying to remove 100,000 voters from the rolls over citizenship ‘questions’ when it was clear most were GOP voters. But the rightwing supermajority on the U.S. Supreme Court allowed Virginia Republican’s deeply flawed, unlawful purge of 1,600 ‘suspected’ non-citizen voters to continue, even though it ensnared actual U.S. citizens. Plus Desi Doyen has our new ‘Green News Report.’

Every show rocked with pandemonium at the end. Then people wouldn’t leave. Our 12 singers and musicians joined an audience that became a party that became a town hall meeting. The idea that the Earth is alive, communicating with us; that we are entering a new era of Earth activism; that the Earth is the leading activist and that we should wait for the signs. Standard “Earth Riot Radio preaching” yes, but still, this intensity surprised us. People are looking for radical change in how they share life with this living Earth. Earthalujah!

KEEPING DEMOCRACY ALIVE: Tim Walz’s Unique Appeal to Young Men’s Masculinity (00:57:08)

There’s a mountain of electoral gold which, for the first time, is being mined: graduates of regional public universities. Many of them men. Colleges with state in their name. Our guest Washington Monthly editor in chief Paul Glastris talks about the overlooked diploma divide. He says 60% of Americans have spent time in college classrooms but a very small percentage went to the expensive elite flagship schools. This large demographic is both proud and aggrieved. They stay close to home and thus boost the economy where it needs it most, small rural towns. Glastris says Walz is one of these men, proud and clearly comfortable who he is. He’s the embodiment of a certain healthy masculinity.

THE BRADCAST: 10/30/2024 ‘Closing Arguments’ with Salon’s Heather Digby Parton, ‘Driftglass’ of The Pro Left Podcast (00:57:30)

On today’s ‘BradCast’: The contrast and choice for American voters could not be starker in the waning days before the most consequential Election Day in modern American history. On Tuesday, Vice President Kamala Harris delivered a ‘closing argument’ on the Ellipse in front of the White House, the same spot where former President Donald Trump incited the attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. Harris underscored her many policy proposals to boost average American families, restore reproductive rights, and much more, and accurately characterized Trump as a threat to democracy itself. Her address came just days after Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden, which was full of crude, racist, and misogynistic threats and attacks. HEATHER DIGBY PARTON of Salon and ‘DRIFTGLASS,’ of the Pro Left Podcast, offer analysis, insight, history and context on both events and the state of the race, as America chooses between two very different paths to the future.
